IN THE FIELD: Mum’s The Word

We used to live in a small town about 30 miles from where we currently live. In the early part of last century, the town and surrounding area was a vacation destination for folks from the big city. The grand old homes are still standing, but most of the vacation cottages alongside the broad creek are long gone.

The town still has all the essentials. For instance, there are two traffic lights, a pizzeria, two banks, a small restaurant, a gas station and a wine and spirits shop. There is also a police station and fire company, and across the street from the grocery store, is a place that sells exotic plants along with the more traditional plants and flowers most folks are familiar with.
