Spilling SunLight

As often as I hunt for butterflies, I must also hunt through google photos to find a name because I know so little about them still.  There have been very very few in my garden this summer so I’ve felt fairly lucky to catch sight of five different kinds in the past three days.  Catch sight, not necessarily catch on camera.  This one was more accommodating than the  single Monarch that floated past the kitchen window and the black swallowtail that rested briefly on the raspberry bush while I was picking but didn’t stay long enough for me to grab the camera.  I have a yellow swallowtail on the camera and one photo of a buckeye butterfly that I’ll post later on.

As my stonecrop starts to flower, I keep hoping for a day such as this one, in September of 2010 when there were more butterflies than I could count on…
