Four ways to definitely be a better writer.

We all know writing is a craft that requires perseverance, imagination and skill. Like most other art forms, it is learned and developed through study and practice. But let’s be honest. Writers are plentiful and bad writing is abundant (especially online). How do we practice getting better at writing? In the absence of a professor or an editor, how can we grow, challenge ourselves and become better than we were before?

You lucky duck, you. I’ve been thinking about this subject a lot and I’ve put together a list of four ways to be a better writer.

1. Be a better reader.
Read voraciously and read from a variety of styles. Even if it’s not quite your thing, read biographies, novels, articles, short stoies, reviews, editorials and poetry. When you read, do it with a purpose. Take notes and mark passages that stand out to you. Pay special attention to…
